By using copper(Ⅱ) bromide as catalyst ,
tert -butyl acetate was synthesized via acylation and the product was determined by infrared spectrometry .By using
tert -butyl alcohol and acetic anhydride as raw material , the catalytic behavior of copper(Ⅱ)bromide w as discussed in synthesizing
tert -butyl acetate .Various factors such as reaction temperature , reaction time , mole fraction of catalyst and molar ratio of anhydride to alcohol , et al, which influence the acy lation reaction , were investig ated in detail. The optimum reaction conditions were given. The results indicate that copper(Ⅱ)bromide exhibit excellent catalytic activity for the acylation reaction of tert -butyl alcohol and acetic anhydride .I t is fairly feasible and has practical value in industry .The optimum reaction conditions are as following :reflux temperature , the molar ratio of anhydride to alcohol is 1.4∶1, reaction time is 2 hours, the mole fraction of copper(Ⅱ)bromide in alcohol is 0 .5 %, the yield of
tert -butyl acetate is 83 .46 %.
